Golden Buddha
The great thing about this photo is that you can go for the natural http://www.redbubble.com/people/khosie/art/133430-enlightenment
or the souped up view that is here..
If I was an up myself photographer I would say the image was completely intentional… ;op
Because I can’t lie to save myself…. :o)

Here are the facts. I have had Photoshop for 2 days. I have had a 20 minute lesson in photoshop and I bought a magazine that gave some tips on photoshop. (And not right may I suggest… can’t believe I am a novice and I worked out that they hadn’t given the right instructions!!) So yes, for all you gurus out there you will have a good giggle. For all the novices, you will understand my joy at turning out this pic!! Ayutthaya… as per the other pics in my portfolio… can categorically say I am not re-inventing the wheel here… saw something similar like this on a postcard and loved it! So grab the kindness in your soul and please feel free to mockingly praise my naive enjoyment of having managed to do something in Photoshop!!! Sometimes photography is about ego… this time it’s just about feeling bloody pleased that I got past File… Open!!!

khosie
Thank you kind sir! As I said in the commentary… I take no credit in re-inveinventing the wheel because I saw this done on a postcard. Coming from Photoshop Newbie to someone who appreciates my results in one session I will take you comments gladly!! Thanks :O)

Cathleen Taraw...
That’s great and I havn’t learnt how to do that yet – teach me?? Or can you just direct me to to right button? lol
khosie
it was a complicated process involving lots of shiraz….. i don’t know where the cursing button is on the computer… hehehhe. seriously. I selected the face using the pencil tool. then after that i got lost. i think it involved editing the paths options and colours… once i work it out again and have it down pat i’ll happily help anyone. if there are any photoshop masters out there who view this please jump in!!
Cathleen Taraw...
Thanks khosie, that just went riiight over my head… I will try starting with the pencil tool thing and see how I go :)

Hi khosie,
I love what you’ve done with this image. There’s a postcard seller around the Khao Sarn Road district in Bangkok that does similar work…ie: desaturating the background, then highlighting significant items like monks robes, or a temple etc…wonder if this is who you saw?
atrei
wow
atrei
also for an easier method without using the pen tool, simply paint the colour in using airbrush and set it to soft light.

btw kim this is on the community front page! http://www.redbubble.com/community

If this is a beginning in photoshop, then I can’t imagine how great the images will be a little further on. YOU GO!!

My attempts at Photoshop are at best Crude! You managed to grasp the tool so quickly, that alone is a piece of art!
And I like the result alot. Wish truly, I had that understanding of photoshop … or maybe I don’t because then I’d rely too much on it, and wouldn’t put that much effort anymore in shooting my pictures ;c) (Good thing in that case is, that analogue pictures are not the best to actually post process in photoshop ;) ... )
Eitherway, great job you did! :D
phil1950

this picture is amazing to bad theres a chain in the corner of it.
khosie
Could be cropped out I guess but I thought I’d vignetted and blended enough… In a way it’s a good reminder as to my noviceness and also the fact that if you saw that place i real life you’d know that trying to get a photo at the right angle without it in it is ny on impossible. thanks for your feedback though – constructive comments always welcome!!
khosie
Chain removed!!
Joan Smart
Great picture.
Leigh Ann Pobiak
this is wonderful!!
Andrew Hogan-...
i love this shot some much better with out the chain and that is a great thing im not a huge fan of photoshop due to the fact that it often prevents people from truely developing themselfs as photographers but this is one of the few cases where i actually prefferre the photoshop results due to the fact that you have already distint photographic talent.
so thanks for recognizing my contructive critisism for what it truely was.
krafty
This is excellent ,I would never believe you were a novice..I think it is brilliant work.Well done.

I think you did a really great job on this photo. I am just trying to figure out photoshop myself. I often give up and go to one of my old programs that I know how to navigate better. I have been trying to figure out how to add color to a black and white photo. Anyway I just wanted to say that this is a really cool photo and good job.

Thanks Cvail. My mum would call me an anti-social lass and my husband thinks I have my head up my arse quite a bit but I prefer your title of “curious” hehehhe. :O)

thanks rachael. Honestly was easy peasy! I googled how to turn something into gold on the internet and voila!!! I look back now at this shot and giggle at the fact I was able to pull it off with such limited knowledge! Yay google!!
