I know, this is a bit weird… But I’ve gone and entered the Canon Photo 5 competition again and… well… self portraits rarely work this well, so I’m sharing :)

This is for the canon photo 5 competition. Finalists will be chosen and voting will start on November 9. If you vote, you have a chance to win a cool camera (better than my one anyway) so I will be voting and if you’d like the chance to win the camera you should sign up and vote too! :)

Like a kid in a candy shop with camera in hand! I love different perspectives, suggested themes or ideas, artistic and casual ‘real people’ photography. I love to show emotion or ideas in my art, in the hopes that it will steal peoples’ hearts. Everyone should be able to enjoy a high level of self-confidence and be able to enjoy life, if I can help – GREAT!

Makes me feel like carbin’ up…
Cool shot, good luck with the comp ;-))

  • I pondered eating them in the portrait, but there’s nothing apetising about day old dried out spaghetti :P

was there a theme or did you just wake up and say “I’ve got it, spaghetti!”

  • Haha, the theme was spaghetti – portrait style :P I don’t think I would come up with something quite so random, although stranger things have happened

well, I have to say, spaghetti is your pasta. ravioli would have been gauche, although the simplicity of penne intrigues me….

  • Yes, I googled pasta types so that I could say something clever, but got all caught up in how many types there were that I decided to stop looking before I got hungry..

For pasta it looks really classy; your pose is so elegant and natural. Reading you replies about pondering on whether to eat them in the portrait made me think of the time I wanted to pursue my work ‘A Piece of Me’ – bought apples thinking I’d do the shot, but end up eating them before I ever get to do the picture – and one day I finally did it :P. Wonderful work Sonja.

  • Thank you Mui-Ling :D sometimes I like to pretend that I’m elegant and classy ;) I remember your apple photo, it was beautiful :) I imagine there are probably very few ways to eat on camera and still make a classy picture though, so I think we probably both made the right decision ;)

Most elegant…………for someone wearing pasta ;-D

  • Thank you so much. Not exactly my food of choice for wearing but at least it wasn’t too messy :)
