Hi Di, wow you know I am gonna have to buy this one! You outdid yourself and I just love it!
Legend has the Medicine Hat Horse appearing in Native American culture, being used as a Ceremonial Horse, Buffalo Runner, and a War Horse. Some of the Plains Tribes which considered the Medicine Hat to be supernatural protection against harm were the Sioux, Cheyenne, Blackfoot, Comanche and Kiowa Tribes. Paintings of special symbols were used on the mostly white Medicine Hats to add strength to the horse and depict special events, such as battles and captured ponies, in the life of his rider.
There are various depictions of a Medicine Hat vs. a horse with a War Bonnett, it seems everybody has a different opinion of where the color should end and whether the horse should have a shield markings on his chest to protect him in battle, etc…. My opinion is if the horse is mostly white, has color over most of the ears appearing as a “hat” and has a colored in chest, then he qualifies as a Medicine Hat! But, there are those out there that would argue more than likely ;-)
