SPACE ACE.
SPACE ACE is flying through space in his compact space ship. the control module (stick and keyboard) are infront of him, and the exterior view of space is represented on a large screen infront of him. This large screen is ‘COMPUTRINA’, his animated computer assistant.
We view space ace from a ‘head on’ angle, whilst he communicates with ‘COMPUTRINA’ who is represented in an opposite view.
ACE
Faster, Computrina.
COMPUTRINA
Yes, Space Ace,
Graphics show on COMPUTRINA’s screen that the speed is increased. The vibration and roll in the cabin match the increase in speed.
ACE
....Full turbo!
COMPUTRINA
OK….5,4,3,2,1…...
(Sound effects and extra vibration)
COMPUTRINA
turbo!
BEEP BEEP BEEP
ACE
What’s that?
COMPUTRINA
I don’t know!
BEEP BEEP BEEP
ACE
Something is wrong!
COMPUTRINA
Hold on ACE!
BANG!
there is a small explosion to the side of SPACE ACE.
The space ship begins to roll.
COMPUTRINA
We are out of control!
ACE
I know! Switch off engine 1 computrina!
COMPUTRINA
Engine 1- off.
ACE
Switch off engine 2 computrina!
COMPUTRINA
Engline 2- off
ACE
Switch of engine 3 Computrina!
COMPUTRINA
Engine 3- off.
As each engine is switched off it is accompanied by a graphic illustrating the event on Computrina’s screen, and sound effects.
ACE
where can we land? I must fix the ship.
COMPUTRINA
ok.
ACE

COMPUTRINA
I don’t know…there is a comet-
there is a star….there is a planet!
ACE
lets’ look closer…
COMPUTRINA
(showing planet on screen)
hmmm, it’s big, it’s round, it’s rocky
... and it’s cold
ACE
let’s go down…slowly, slowly….slo…
BUMP!
ACE
Lights on Computrina!
the lights go on.
ACE

COMPUTRINA
testing all systems
graphics on screen show systems being tested
COMPUTRINA
(screen flashing)
I have found the problem.
ACE
That’s great- where is it?
COMPUTRINA
In the control cupboard. Open the control cupboard-
find the green wires- you must fix the green wires.
ACE
Fix the green wires- that is easy! I’l just open the cupboard….
ACE opens’ the cupboard and lots of junk alls out- toys, socks, books etc…
ACE
( holding up a green sock)
Hmmmm.
COMPUTRINA
That is a green sock Ace- not a green wire.
ACE

Ace pulls out an enormous tangled mass of different coloured wires…
ACE

(puts on cosmic goggles)

like a space spider
ACE

ACE
hm…20 cm, that is a big spider…
there is a menacing growl
ACE

COMPUTRINA
(Showing sound wave on screen)
It Sounds like a hungry space spider…
ACE

ACE turns round and sees the spider
ACE
Ahh, what’s that computrina
COMUTRINA
what do you think it is Ace?
ACE grabs a pole of and tries to fend off SPACE SPIDER
ACE
A hungry space spider!
COMPUTRINA

ACE
Take that, and that…and that…
the SPACE SPIDER jumps on ACE’s face and drops him to the floor…
ACE
Argghhhhhhhhhh..computrina, help!
COMPUTRINA
Ace, he is just being friendly.
ACE detatches himself from the spider.
ACE
Friendly! Friendly! I don’t think that was
very friendly! jumping on my face.
COMPUTRINA
Space Spiders are very friendly,
and they are very clever.
ACE
Clever- it doesn’t look clever to me.
The SPACE SPIDER moves over to the keyboard, and begins to type. the letters come up on screen…

(typing)

ACE
oh. he is clever isn’t he. my name is -swizzle.

And thank you for breaking my space ship!

(showing an arctic landscape on the screen)
Outside there is snow and ice. it is very cold outside

SPACE SPIDER comes out of the cupboard, and types on the screen

(green lights flash on the screen)

(reseating himself, SS to his shoulder)

There is a graphic of a really extremely slow large and scary space ship on the screen..
