The shirt-design for real Browncoats: no Battle of Serenity Valley dates – no character or Firefly shape forced somewhere into all that – no overplayed quote … only a simple Independents shirt design celebrating Mal’s & Zoe’s brigade from back in the Unification War. it does however feature:
57th OVERLANDER BRIGADE
Independents Flag with black up-side down star°
distressed / well-worn look (happy U-day.the war is OVER!)
oh and yes … Mal’s kinda handgun in the background, couldn’t resist to give it a slight personal touch
and yeees, it is available in brown, but I’d recommend army. I mean: it’s an army-themed shirt … and let’s face it: they were called Browncoats, not Brown shirts so no reason to only sport brown Firefly-shirts
°there seems to be some kind of confusion whether the Independents flag’s star has to be turned up or down, the series itself isn’t consistent about that issue. I think it looks cooler like that, and I checked other shirts and they use it like that too. I could do a flipped version upon request tho …
kgullholmen is a German artist and author. he only makes designs about pop culture stuff he really enjoys himself, and you’ll never see a Doctor Who design on his page ever.
on the upside this means that all of his designs are created with a loving eye for detail, because WHEN he decides to make something into a design, it’s because he’s a total GEEK over the subject himself.
