Hi Everyone

Just want to know…

What are your HDR- Settings in Good Sunlight
the 1st
2nd
and 3rd

and what are they at night?
the 1st
the 2nd
the 3rd

Lastly, has anyone tried HDR with 30second Exposures?

30 sec, if you have a bulb feature, go 45 sec, 30, 15 sec

always take extra shots if you can – you never know when shadow clipping is going to ruin your shot….

i always take 2 to + 2 and pick and choose which ones look best :)

Hi Kenny I’ll use AEB bracketing. I rarely use more than three, sometimes I will use -1, 0, +1 and sometimes -2, 0, +2, for exposures at night, try not to go past 1 min, otherwise you get too much noise in the image when you tonemap it.

In good lighting like “inspired” where I know the place really well then 3 shots at -2, 0 and +2 ev will usually do it. This I have to do manually as my camera wont bracket at 2 ev steps. Tip – If your exposure wheel on the camera is set at 1/3 ev then just decide what exposure to start with and count 6 clicks of the wheel between each exposure. I have to do this to get the shots off as quick as possible in moving clouds. Nearly always a problem in the UK (Even 3 shots bracketed at 1 ev around 0 will mostly work and is better to bracket automatically if clouds are moving fast)

At night, or if I’m not sure of the lighting for the scene I will use up to 7 exposures bracketed at 1 ev increments. (I may then use all seven or just 3 of the seven for the final pic)

There are more permutations for different situations but these have been best for most things for me.

    Thanks soo much Tony!
Right now im just goin to experiment. I dont have a tripod so its kinda hard geting the same shot 4x’s. Im waiting on that new camera in May hopefully. I thank you for giving me an idea and the rounds. I will be working off that and experimenting on my own as well :)

No problem. Hand held is one of the permutations. Just select “align image” in the HDR software and it works maybe 6/10 times.
