Jacob Simkin, 29, of Hoppers Crossing, Australia
(how cool of a city name is that!)
A self proclaimed Visual Artist / Film Maker / Photographer / Relief Aid worker / Mountaineer
Take a few looks at his images and you will know, this guy is no lie, no joke.
Looking through Jacobs images reminded me of something i read by a photographer…
“[Life wanted] faces that would express what we wanted to tell. Not just the unusual or striking face, but the face that would speak out the message from the printed page. I am always looking for some typical person or face that will tie the picture essay together in a human way. – Margaret Bourke-White, Portrait of Myself by Margaret Bourke-White”
Ive always wanted the ability to capture candid and posed portriats like that of Jacobs style.

All so sincere and natural.
Does it take going half way across the world? Hmm
it doesnt not help but its all in the ability. The touch of a true professional.

The perfected timing, the right angle.
But not just the images, the interaction.
acob has many images from the midst of a hostile environment
Afghanistan…

...the scars of the past, in Tora Bora still remain

meanwhile the future is uncertain under the US led coalition of forces hunting for terrorist

as life goes on

we can only hope for the best for these people. And honor this amazing photographer/relief worker.

thank you, Jacob. For bringing smiles and a sense of humanity to what we i the west may otherwise see as a waist of time, money and blood.

each image has a storey
