~ Through Reality's Mist ~

I heard the tender cry of my Lover
a sweet caress delivered upon the wind
His tenderness swept in about me
stealing my breath as it engaged me deep within

I closed my eyes in order to feel His soul
I felt His essence in the form of a spiritual touch
I breathed His name with passion’s heat
My heart responded with pure love…

I called unto My exquisite Bride
I reached for Her through reality’s mist
hoping She would recognise My voice
and respond with true love’s kiss

I called unto My True Love
calling Her into My awaiting arms
longing to hold Her unto myself
and protect Her from all harm…

Upon my soul, He had left His mark
branding me with love so tantalising
so with faith I set forth on foriegn soil
empowered by love intoxicating

Through the wilderness I journeyed
seeking my Lover high and low
at times losing myself in thickets dense
at times failing to retain hope

Through day’s heat I travelled
seeking Him with my whole heart
calling through night’s darkness
yearning for my Lover’s arms

I found my Bride weakened
mourning and near death
She’d almost given up the journey
having lost hope through weariness

Voices of the dark taunted Her
claiming My love to be insincere
declaring Me unfaithful
filling Her with fear

Worry and doubt had come to consume Her
convincing Her My love had come to an end
But nothing shall weaken the love I hold for her
not even the power of death

I’ll follow Her to the end of the earth
I would even lay down My life
for such is the love I possess
for the one I call My Bride

His still small voice called to me
waking me from a trance of foolishness
He took me into His loving arms
and held me firmly to His chest

He whispered words of forever
vowing nothing would separate us again
I looked deep into His eyes of passion
and placed my heart into His hands

Now I am my Beloved’s
and my Beloved is mine
Two hearts, one love
until the end of time…

“…I am my lover’s and my lover is mine…”
Song of Solomon 6:3a

Artist's Description

I actually wrote this back in the old Myspace days, and came across it this morning in a host of rescued files found on my temperamental laptop, and figured I’d add it here – though I can’t remember the original’s title. It may have been called something like “Love Intoxicating…” – for those of you who knew me back then.

This “romance” can be seen as the dance of love between man and woman, but I actually wrote it about Christ and His Church.
