Razor wire ~ used to deter prisoners from escaping over the wall. However, my husband works at a prison (a detention centre for youth) and knows of a few who have risked being sliced in the hope of finding freedom.

Taken at Maitland Gaol, NSW, Australia.

I take photos. I write. I sing & dance. Ok, I DON’T sing & dance. Not in public, anyway; & usually 2 my own beat. But I have fun, & that makes life a little more tolerable -for me. Maybe not 4 my kids. But, hey, if they can’t laugh at their mum then they’re probably the only ones who aren’t. So turn up the music & let’s boogie! (Do they still boogie these days? Gosh, I’m getting old. Best be careful not 2 throw a hip while throwing a leg!)

We have this on our house walls in SA. its a common site along with electric fencing.
the prodical son returns… haha! you have had to much freedom while i have been away …now we need to fence things up a bit :-) A cracking shot… you have found its beauty!! A BEEG FAV!!!!!!!

  • Hey ya, PS. (Prodigal Son ;) ) I was just about to send out a search party… ;P

YOU HAVE THEM ON YOUR HOUSE WALLS?!?!?! Struth!!! :( What a way to live. :( Now you’ve got me worried about you! Time for you to move. England or Oz, take your pick!! :)

Sorry it’s not an image of a bird, S… ;) Mind you, I did get a couple of pics of pigeons at the gaol… Seemed like an appropriate bird to be there, actually. ;)

Thanks, son! I appreciate your ‘BEEEG FAV’! xxx

I saw this on the bubble wall…and i was thinking Immediately hmmm… i need to take a look at that, as the artist has found beauty in an otherwise ugly object! and to me thats the eye!
but its the way you have composed it, with many blurred pices cutting across the background. Yes many houses have this on their walls as well as spikes and cameras and alarms. also spot lights! cant explain why we live here.. Africa just cries home.. even amongst the crime we feel free here! strangest thing! no natural disasters or bombings or terrorism maybe helps

  • Hmm, put that way, mate, I’m thinking Africa might be the safer place to live then! you got room for me, Tim and the kids? ;) No natural disasters? I’m thinking there’s a lot I don’t know about your country.

Thank you for your great response to this image. I really appreciate it. Thank you, Shaun. xoxox
