Upper Howqua and Jamieson valleys by

Looking north from Mt. McDonald, Alpine National Park, Victoria, Australia over the catchments of the Howqua and Jamieson rivers.

102 views at March 23, 2012.

I spent last night (Feb.3, 2012) camped on the summit of this amazing mountain. At 1620m, it is on the crest of the Great Dividing Range. The 650km Australian Alps Walking Track passes directly over its crest. The mountain is relatively remote and so receives few visitors.

Very nice Kevin – makes you want to get out there. Lucky the air was so clear.

  • Thanks David. Yes there was a forecast for a late shower but it cleared up beautifully.

Fantastic vista Kev…out and about trekking again..good on ya..

  • Many thanks Rob. It was great to get up there. I’d been there 3 or 4 times before but never camped up there. If there’s a more speccy spot to camp in the Vic Alps I’d like to know where it is.

Beautiful vista Kevin…love the way the light highlights the mountain folds..

  • Many thanks Mark. Yes it was the right combination of time of day/time of year/weather conditions to point the camera in this direction.
