After scrambing up the bottom three tiers of Mathinna falls, the going got tougher. Running out of light and time, I was keen to see what was above the the third of the drops I had seen. Srambling over a rocky crest I was presented with this scene.

With less than hour to get back to the car and set up camp, I had just enough time to record a few images and reluctantly depart. So I have no idea if the caption of this image is correct, for there may be more drops between the main one you can see here and the spectacular and very beautiful (but not very easily seen) drop at the very top of this image which I estimate to be about 100m above where this image was made. Equally, there may be more drops above it. That exploration will have to wait for another day.

When I saw this title I thought no way he’s got in to see Mathinna Falls amazing. In Victoria Mathinna Falls are locked away in the Maroondah Dam catchment, obviously the Tassie version doesn’t suffer the same access restrictions, lovely shot mate.

  • Much appreciated Trav.
