Townsville’s tropical trees are twisted, tangled and photogenic. I came across one huge tree with dozens of trunks entwining. I couldn’t stop snapping. Some of the shots turned out spooky and mysterious. I think that tree had me under its spell…

Nice use of mono, it sure does have that eerie feel to it, I can see an eye looking as if waiting for someone to dare enter, look up on the right side you will see…wonderful work…gina
Thanks Gina… I’ve never seen that eye before.
I like this very much, it reminds me of my home here in South Florida. So many of the big Banyans trees seem to be holding and hugging each other, they are so human-like….
Thanks. Yes, they are very human, these trees.
the frida kahlo of trees – she looks like she has a flower behind her ear!
That gives me a completely new perspective on the photo (and made me smile).
sooo exquisite and scenic!…great title :)) …luv this one!! hehe great job!
Thanks JaNae. Your piece is beautiful.
It’s a strangler fig! Slowly takes over it’s host until there is nothing left but the fig. The Cathedral and Curtain figs (so named for their unusual, and yet rather grand and eerie shapes) in the far north are quite the attractions. Beautiful capture of this one, Kerrie, really like the tones.
Thanks Merrilyn. I went crazy taking snaps of these trees when I was in FNQ.
