Shot at dawn on the 10.01.2010, Mount Maunganui Beach towards Papamoa and Motuotau Island, sensational patterns in the sky with reflections in the wet sand. i’d previously passed up this image, this was my pre dawn set up, in fact its two images merged and processed in Photomatix HDR.

What followed next was an intense red phase.

then a brilliant orange and gold phase.

I do like the soft tones in the wet sand, the water was moving just fast enough to give a slight blur
