Dying Sun, Last Light for Dylan by

Dedicated to the memory of Dylan Holmes age three, I awoke yesterday morning to a bubble mail from Tereza at sea group telling me to check Davids site and that his son had died, well knock me sideways, i’ve been chatting with david about coming to New Zealand for a holiday like just this week!

David use to work with me in the UK, we went to his wedding and then lost touch for the last 13 years, then last month out of the blue he finds me on RB, we have been chatting ever since.

I spoke to david this morning, I’d do anything to help but what do you say, David has had several heart attacks, he’s about 35, last week his apartment was robbed, and now he has lost his son, nothing can make this right, but we can show that we care, drop by his site, he has only just started taking images, show him that our community cares.

David Holmes

this work is not for sale and is a collaboration piece using my dying sun image and a photograph of a an artwork that was made for my wife two years ago when they thought that I may die of cancer, this Maori work of art is Te Ra (the Sun) and was crafted by Lee watt at chamblett design (design@chamblett.co.nz) thank you to lee for permission to use this image.

Ken Wright, david Holmes Friend.

Our thoughts are with you David, Love from Ken and Karen.

Hi, Kia Ora from New Zealand, i live in sunny Papamoa in the Bay of Plenty. I have spent the last thirty years taking photos, I love capturing images, especially ones that only I saw, only I was silly enough to get up at that time to catch the sunrise, photography is a wonderful thing, capture an image and you preserve the moment forever, miss it, and its lost forever.

Hope that you enjoy these images.

Please accept my sincere condolences for you, for David and his dear family on the loss of their beloved child with this feature in Dimensions
My heart goes out to them………

  • thank you for giving support to David, no one deserves his luck, David is very religious and I’m not, I lost my mum at 56 and felt that my kids had been robbed of a wonderful lady, any faith that i may have had however thin went out the window, i can’t imagine what david is going through, life can be so unfair.

    love Ken, :-)

    Dylan has found the Light.
He is in a Paradise made of the beautiful colours of this stunning work dear Ken.
This is a beautiful Homage to Baby Dylan and his Dad David, who will look at the Light and feel the presence of God and Dylan ahead of him. No one is replaceable, but Peace will enter David’s heart.
    Beautiful Ken.

  • Thank you so much Tereza, and thank you for letting me know so soon.

    Love Ken, :-)

I am so terribly sad for David

  • thanks Henk, what is happening to us, no one deserves this, when I visited my dad i saw my auntie Doreen, she still lives in the house next door to the house that I was born in, I was born on her Birthday in 1960, she is 88, i never met or can’t remember her first husband, her second husband Harry was a prisoner of war with the Japanese, he was very emotionally scarred by this and never talked about, they had three children all with heart defects, Margareta never left home, the other two married and had families, all three are now dead, Doreen had out lived two husbands and three children, what is wrong with this picture.

No one should out live there Children, life is so sad.

    your friend, Ken :-)

This is a beautiful tribute to your friend Ken. There is nothing in the world so devastating as losing a child. My thoughts and prayers are with your friend.
