As Dawn Begins

As Dawn Begins

Warn limestone blocks in the North Bay at Kaikoura on New Zealand’s South Island, carved smooth by the sea.

i shot this just as the dawn started, its very very calm, or so it seam, a wave had crashed in and rushed back, this is a 25 second exposure, chek out the gull on the rock to the right, it didn’t move!

Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, ND 4 soft Grad, tripod with weighted bags.

Check out other images of these rocks from my last trip, more to come from here.

  • KenWright replied

Going well, thanks, just getting nervous about addressing 100-150 people, the gallery had most of the canvases hung, getting close now.

Fantastic work Ken, what a great structure, a lovely photography subject. The blues that have been used really give it that cool feel that works much better with these blocks.
