The sun had just set and the air cooled as the kit foxes stared off into a desert world we humans will never understand or comprehend. A few minutes later they headed north into the low hills to begin their night hunt. They soon vanished like mist before the rising sun. As I slowly drove away I envisioned a single cottontail rabbit feeding in the brush before them. I would not want to be him on this night of the foxes – Great Basin Desert, Utah, USA.
