It was 5:30am out in the Utah desert and the sky was full of black clouds, rain, lightning and thunder. I had come looking for horses – the wild ones on this wild morning.I spotted them at the head of a canyon among scattered juniper, pinyon pine and rainy scented sage. I eased my truck nearby, shut off the motor and listened to big fat rain drops bounce off the roof. I thought about just sitting out the rain but I came here to immerse myself in beauty.I slipped into my rain suit and wandered slowly and aimlessly among the mustangs. I took it all in. The rain, lightning and thunder. And as the sun crested the eastern mountain it peaked through the clouds bringing with it mysterious golden light and rainbows. It was a magical morning-a soul cleansing morning among the wild horses of the Great Basin Desert in Utah, USA.
