Storm surge in teal by

Kaikoura has to be one of the most magical places in the world for Light, even on a morning thats cold, wet and raining it will turn on a show, i really thought twice about getting out early, heavy rain all night, not flash at all.

Whats hard to see from this shot is the stepped platform running the line of the posts, on the other side is a boat ramp, on this side deep pools and rocks, I had to wade through the water (fishing waders on) to get onto this rock, the water on the rock at the point of tide surge is knee deep, around the rock its waist deep, well worth the effort to capture this storm sky and teal/aqua tone in the water.

Shot near the old wharf, North Bay Kaikoura.

Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Lens, Cokin ND8 soft grad, Raw files with Active D-Lighting on High.

It is so beautiful Ken, I love the flowing movement of the water and the lovely aquamarine shades of blue colours.
