Beautiful capture ! Like the colors !
Ken, these are all just incredible photos. Such precise timing. You have magnificent talent obviously.
Thank you for the wonderful compliment, Sandy, though I question how much talent I have, or what that talent is. I do know for sure that this precious session with the swallows was an awe-inspiring experience that I have the responsibility of preserving to the full extent of my limited expertise in the science of graphic arts (including using the primary tool of the art, a digital camera). I also realize it wasn’t just luck that produced a good number of successful photographs during the 10-minute encounter, though I could have easily messed up every shot I took instead of only half of them. The luck was finding the scene and being allowed to stand in proximity to the event. After that, the credit goes mostly to the photographic equipment (a D300 Nikon and a 300mm f4 lens). Oh, I suppose I can take credit for having the restraint not to jump up and down shouting, “Look at this! Look at this!” and thereby blowing my opportunity. Post image-taking production is requiring a little bit of concentration and a lot of eye strain, but again, the computer tools take most of the credit in enhancing the image adequately. The biggest job will be giving these birds an appreciative audience.
Both pictures are awesome.
Thank you! It’s great to hear from so many Oregon photographers!
Ken, this is marvelous, it would make a great limited edition statue! I love it! Dee
Explain that concept, Diane. Statue?
aww so cute, they seem so anxious for her to come back already. They are almost bigger than her.
¡Hola, chica! Yes, those kids were almost as big as mom. They could fly on their own, but weren’t good hunters on their own yet. I never saw this scene again after that one time, but the next few days I saw the little ones flying around the stream, but I couldn’t get a shot of any of them. This was a one-time-for-Ken event, I think.
Wonderful capture – great work :-))
You know how the bradford exchange has limited editions of things, that’s what I meant, or the hummel figurines! I just really love the composition of this and it has great angles, and that is what I thought of when I first saw this image! Dee
You have a great sense of art presentation, Diane, a lot better than mine. My expertise in presentation is limited, so any ideas you have are welcome.
Ken, I think that you presentation skills are first rate. You have a great sense of composition and style and that’s the same as presentation, in my book and oh! you have a wonderful imagination, your titles really fit the image and I love your sense of humor! Dee
OK, you’re hired as my publicist!
Incredible capture…!!! Nicely framed, perfect DOF
Amazing work!! That’s very very good!!
