In the hiddenmost vessel of your heart
I find myself
reaching through the shadow of scarlet dreams,
a fallen bird’s feather
drawn from the wing of joy
and offered to you
as parent to your soul;
the hummingbird’s gift is no match
for the music that begs for song
for your song
silent as a blood pearl on the tip of my tongue.

Photo taken in Lane County, Oregon, USA. September 2013.

    Lyrical art, lovely words. A nice duet, Ken.

  • Many thanks, Sheila! Someone whispers those lyrics into my ear and I just write ’em down.
