Mammoth Terraces, Yellowstone National Park by

A small section of the vast Mammoth Terraces, limestone deposits fed by hot springs. Over time, the flow of water changes location and sections become dormant and bright white when no longer fed by the geothermal-heated water. The Mammoth Hot Springs area is located within and not far from the northern Roosevelt Gate of Yellowstone National Park.
