A robin (Turdus migratorius) perches on a snowy crab apple branch.

Shot in my Mooresville, Indiana backyard with my Canon EOS 7D and a Canon 400mm L lens.

    Brrr! He looks cold. Came north a little early perhaps…???

  • I recently learned that they don’t all migrate. And, since they spend a lot of time just roosting in trees in the winter, we don’t see them anywhere near as much as we do in the spring through fall. This one usually sits in the same spot or two in this crab apple tree and gets itself a crab apple berry every now and then. Sure does look cold to me…don’t know how they keep from freezing their feet off!
