Who is the one to say?

Friends before you just join a group think about what you are saying to the buyer and the RB community as a hole. The buyer will not care if you have or do not have a label but the RB community well, do you really need a label for you work or is it your work that speaks for itself? Have we as an art community got it down to what a really photographer is or what a really photo is or should we as a community of artist give this power to one or two to say what good art is, is this what RB is about? Is good art in the eye of one? I say to you today it is not, good art is in the eye of the beholder!! That is the way it has always been and that is the way it will always be! And that is the bottom line on art and what is good and what is not good it is up to the beholder not the one or the two to say what will be and what is not. You have the freedom to be a bad artist all of you do because it is not about if the one or two say you are. I say to you today you are good! So there is no good or bad in art! just being an artist makes you good in my eye!

I quite agree with you kenneth, the most important person to like my art is me, if anyone else does, then that makes me happy that i can share something with my fellow man and make them happy to.

very thought provoking .. much could be said on this topic and the topic of what is good art .. but bottom line I agree that art is in the eye of the beholder …

Kenneth, is this in response to the bubblemail that was sent out to all the Lightning and Storms group members? Because if so I have something to say to, ” THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION”!! We are here to show our work and Lord willing to sell a print or two!

I am actually considering leaving this group due to the fact that I don’t want to feel like Im in some sort of Competition. You hit the nail on the head when you said “Art is in the Eye of the Beholder”!

I think you are right in saying that good art is in the eye of the beholder. It’s like that comic saying, ‘I don’t know much about art, but I know what I like’.

It really is individually subjective, which is why, if I like somethig and someone else doesn’t, it never bothers me, especially when considering one’s one work. I have disliked something of my own, yet someelse loves it.
