Long Time Ken, you ok?
Stunning photo Ken. Have you boosted the colour slightly? The effect is stunning. The water is also very atmospheric.
Ken Boxsell replied
Thanks Sheila….....I actually shot this in the middle of the day with and ND8 + ND4 just to slow it down a little. I think the ND’s are responsible for the colouration. I did dodge a few spots just to bring it out a little.
Thanks heaps for the fav mate….....much appreciated
Geraldine Lefoe
great shot Ken – looks remarkably like Coledale
Ken Boxsell replied
Thanks Geraldine…...Yeah pretty much the same rock formation in Kiama as up there but you certainly have more of a selection…...Must get up that way some day.
Sheila Smith
OK Ken I am going to show my ignorance, what are the ND8 + ND4?
Ken Boxsell replied
Hi Sheila, certainly not a silly question, I should have explained it a bit better…..Sorry mate. I suppose the easiest way to explain them is to put sunglasses at the front of your camera… LINK ....Just reduces the light that can enter the lens….....makes the camera take a slower shot as it takes longer to gather the required light. ND just stands for Neutral Density. ND4 drops 2 f-stops and an ND8 drops 3 f-stops LINK
hilarydougill

Brian Carey
Beautiful Ken. Love the composition, colour, and I am a long shutter speed fanatic, so the water effects fabulous also! So let me guess, with an ND8 stacked with an ND4, (I’ll presume ISO100 and a small aperture) and shot midday, a 5 second shutter speed?
Ken Boxsell replied
You got in 1 Brian…....spot on mate…..this one was in fact 5 sec and the others ranged between 4 and 6 sec. ( I had to go back and have a look)
Thanks heaps mate for dropping by and also for the fav…..Truly appreciated mate

Considering its a middle of the day shot this is fuc%!^@ fantastic. I find when I stack the ND filterstogether I get a slight colour cast toward the magenta. I am able to correct a bit in CS3. Your exposure time makes this the perfect beachrock photo. another favourite.

Thank you so much Andrew. I truly appreciate the awesome comment and the fav. Cheers mate
