Artist's Description

!The Templars Ghost
Church bell ring distant
Coloured light, dust.
Swish of vestment. Constant.
The layde against fine linen covered bed
with tapestried cushioned pillow
is draped shining line
a lace covered hand billow
with filigreed light
a kirtle generous spread
The layde pray upon her knees
A fine painting richly lined
a tear of quicksilver
The layde’s heart constricts its time
a candle’s flame gutters
A ghost no-one sees
The layde’s breath doth leap
A mouth of bitten lip
a gasp of soul sorrow
Her husband in drunken stripped
lies on the marriage bed
The layde’s emotions do weep
The layde hears the ghost now whisper
Closing in her eyes of madness
The ghost of rag still speak
In voice of love bar sinister
Come my love now see
Her heart leaps in lethal wonder
The layde’s love capture
Death in a sun hot land
The ghost of surcoat white
crossed with a badge of crimson
two poor knights one horse command
the layde’s love pictured in rapture
The layde’s love spirit
Rides now to touch her hand
with lips cold and stunned as death
raising a maimed pewtered face
dead in some place now damned
holding still her hand to kiss it
The layde’s love dead
Her heart takes the ghost above her
the dead knight forsake her
with body soul and worship
installed to take another
upon the marriage bed
