My first attempt at star trails. Taken from the driveway of my house in Australind, WA.

A torch was used to light up the tree.
215 images at 30sec belended together using Startrails application.

As this is my first attempt i would love all your feedback and tips on improving

    nice shot cant give you any tips as i havnt tried it myself yet ;-) but a lovley job i think

  • thank you david, i suggest you try it, its suprisingly easy with the programs now available for some really nice results. i’m looking to get down to the estuary for my next one or maybe over the perth city skyline

    This is something that I would like to try. You seem to have done a great job on your first attempt. Did you shoot in RAW for each of the 215 shots?

  • you should give it a try Malcolm, its not as hard as it looks. Nah i didnt shoot in RAW, altho i might for the next one i try. I set it to shutter speed priority, set the speed to 30sec and let it do its thing while i went back insdie to the warmth :)

    Great capture, have you tried with one shot and much longer exposure?

  • thanks Jan, i have tried a shot which i did for about 22 mins, but it ended up like i shot it in the middle of the day which a massivly blown out sky
