B y travel journalist Nola Lee Kelsey: This small temple dog joined me under a sala housing three large Buddhas when a hard rain started over Wat Chedi Laung in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I reached into my camera bag for a dog cookie, but when I turned around she was sitting in the hand of Buddha. Then she relaxed and went to sleep.

I live a semi-nomadic life, writing books and articles about travel and helping animals along the way. Selling my photographic images and prints of a collection of my late mother’s artwork (Avonelle Kelsey, 1931-2009) is a new way in which I am attempting to avoid an ordinary life, while paying my art storage bills back home.
