For all my characters, male and female, I normally write in first person, and at the present time. For example: “I walk along.”
I do this because it is sneaky. I aim to make it so that people feel like they are the character, not the reader. I don’t always succeed, but I try my damnedest. I also do it because you can read an “I Am” story and not know what gender the person is. This is delightful, because whatever is going on, whoever this person is, you can feel like you are them.
“I kiss her.”
A simple phrase, yet whether ‘you’ are man or woman remains to be seen. I usually have a clear answer in mind, but it doesn’t matter what I think. What matters is who you are when you read my stories. I apologize if the perspective is ever confusing or contradictory, but I’ve sort of fallen into it, and I don’t know if I can fall out.

I love the way you know what you write and why… you are light years ahead of me!! Bravo…!!

Thank you! And no I’m not. You remind me of my dad, who looked at my pictures and tried not to cry. “You’re winning.” Was pretty much what he said, as he read the comments I’ve received. Then I go and look at his photo’s and try not to cry, because they’re so much prettier then mine. It’s all opinion, and, my favorite word, perspective.
