This perfect rose grew in an oasis in a desert.

More than an hour’s drive out of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India, we drove in to an oasis. Actually, an ashram, but definately an oasis in the Great Thar desert. It is difficult to imagine, I know, that beyond the fences of this compound there is desert for as far as the eye can see.

It was hot that day, and this place was surreal. The green so exaggerated against the dry desert backdrop, and the colours of the blooms… well… I still wonder to this day if they were actually real!
