He is Rajasthani. He is Mewari. He is of the Hoondriyoon Ka Nohra community. He has seen very few foreigners in his lifetime. But he obliged me and seemed pleased to encounter me. When I attempted to show him his image on the view screen of my camera, he spoke to me in his tribal language, alien to me, yet somehow I understood his every word. He told me he could not see his image as his sight was failing him. One close look into his eyes and I could see his near-blindness. I wonder, through his worn eyes, what he saw in me? In him, I saw dignity, grace, wisdom and beauty.
