My Army Son

A son grows up, my Army man,
Great attitude over his master plan,
going to war, facing horrors and pain,
A mothers sorrow, a son’s gain,
How does a mother just let go?
Her heart sinks, does it show?
A man? No! He is just a boy,
A Father’s pride, his Mothers joy.
My son leaves, taking with him my heart,
My year ends, his about to start,
The family will not be the same,
Until he returns with a rank before his name.
Will miss you son, return home soon,
You are a light, brighter than the moon.
Our love is with you wherever you go,
Feel it with you when the wind blows,
Never out of our thoughts, deep in our souls
Keep reaching higher, attaining your goals.
We love you son.

My son is going to Iraq for the first time. He is a medic. I am his mother.
He looks forward, I cant help but look back, at my little boy. I cry inside.
