I took my first photos in 1999, with a 1.3 Mp point and shoot. Without knowing what I was doing technically, I discovered I had a an eye for shooting interesting things. But I was just another happy snapper, until about 8 months ago when I took the time to sit down and look at all my photos collectively. I was impressed to see a number of shots that I was proud of. It was then that I realised I was a photographer but without the technical know how.

I went out and bought myself a decent DSLR and began learning all about it. Aperture, depth of field, shutter speeds, composition and so on. I read everything I could and took photos of anything I could think of. Since then my technical abilities have improved a lot and I feel I am coming to a new phase in my photography in which I can get back to concentrating on the photo again without thinking of how the photo is made.
