China Signs 00 Safety First in Nanjing by

Cover page for China Signs Calendar

Signs in China – where we were for some time – the second from the right bottom row Chinese script means safety or security. I love this, because the ‘roof’ on top indicated the home, and the portion on bottom means woman or mother. Hence, safety/security is mother at home.

These photos were taken in the Confucius Temple in Nanjing. The stone carving is of one of his disciples, seven others were here as well. These may be published at some later date.

I take great delight in good design, excellent photography, ongoing learning, and rising to creative challenges. Many of my photographic images on RedBubble are from extensive travels where I enjoy ‘getting to understand’ local customs and experiences. A second strand of my RedBubble portfolio is represented by various design projects.

Excellent amazing how many characters it takes in two different languages, you could never tie them together by size of number of characters.

  • Yes – I had fun trying to learn some of the Chinese characters, with a small degree of success, but so many errors! More on that elsewhere.

Please be sure to submit this image to the Neighborhoods group for entry into the challenge. It is a great capture and I’d hate to have to remove it from the challenge. :)
