This will display the following:

In April 2011, I sailed out of Sydney, Australia, armed with my trusty Lumix camera, and a burning desire to explore five of the Pacific’s island groups. Our ship, the “Dawn Princess”, somewhat more advanced than Cook’s “Endeavour”, was to retrace many of his steps, taken over his three Pacific journeys from 1769 until his death at the hands of natives in Hawi’i.
My overarching impression of the Pacific was of extreme emptiness. We sailed for many days, seeing no other ships, no land, and a few isolated sea-birds. Yet, once land had been reached, evidence of Captain Cook’s visits abounded. In Hawi’i there was a suburb named after him. Memorial plaques erected in his name appeared often, and all island guides mentioned his name.
Photographically, open seas, island arrivals and departures and many cloud formations provided interesting and varied subject matter, particularly at sun-up and sun-down.
Our landfalls included Sydney, Tonga, Samoa, Tahiti, Hawi’i and Fiji. In each of the island groups, we stopped at a few ports, joining tours guided by locals.
In this photographic collection, I have included what I consider to be the ‘best’ of many captures. I trust you enjoy them.
This completes the series

Enjoyed ‘your’ trip. I too am a fan of Capt. James Cook. Saw some sights in Hawaii but felt he was ‘ours’ ! I’ve been on the Endeavour (on a tour) & couldn’t imagine anything smaller. They must have felt like a cork bobbing up & down in those vast waters!
Keith Richardson:
Wonderful to have you drop by for a chat and comment – many thanks!
