Asian Elephant Series
I am fascinated by the Asian Elephant. On trips to Chang Mai, Phuket and Bali, we spent considerable time with these marvellous creatures, observing them at work and at play, on their own and interacting with their mahouts and members of the public. Most have heard of elephant’s long memories, but equally amazing is their sure-footedness when descending precarious slopes and balancing on submerged rocks in river crossings, their power and accuracy when playing soccer, their cooperativeness when working in teams, and their creative abilities when painting.
Here are 51 images of Asian Elephants, arranged into 17 triplets, 6 vertical and 11 horizontal. These may be purchased in various sizes from small cards to large wall hangings and posters via RedBubble.com.
The following list will be hyperlinked as each image is published over a period of 17 days. Large copies of each will also be added as “comments” to this Journal entry.
I trust that you enjoy these friends of mine – Asian Elephants. Keith

Fantastic imagery Keith, I love Elephants so look forward to the rest of the series, they are such wonderfully intelligent animals. We saw quite a few in India. hugs
Keith Richardson replied
Thank you Hilary. I am sorry that I have not had time recently to look at and leave comments on your recent uploads. It has taken a long time to set up 51 elephant photos arranged into 17 triplets, but that is all done now, and the uploading to RB is progressing quite well.
Glad you are looking forward to seeing them – I am not sure how to go about gaining better exposure. My philosophy is to put quality up onto RB with the faith that quality will eventually win through… What do you suggest, or should I just be patient?
Cheers for now, Keith

I am amazed that the all look so clean, you would expect them to in the first image where they are in the deaper water. They all look very clean and healthy. Can’t wait to see more. Very well done

Byron – you will enjoy image #7 when we look at Bathtime. The Mahout gets a scrubbing brush onto his elephant friend’s back, who sits up looking for all the world like a child being washed by his mother. I love them!

Mary Campbell
Neat.. only seen elephants in the zoo.. quite cool.
Keith Richardson replied
Thank you Mary – when we look at these in the Melbourne Zoo, they look great, but we get so frustrated in not being able to get close and personal, as we are able to do in Asia. It was the same in the Singapore Zoo with Oranutans when we had breakfast with them. They were right there with us. Wow!
Loved your “Under Sail” photo, and immediately made it a favourite!
