Spitting at Authority in Koblenz

The Schängel, a bronze statue of a mischievous, high-spirited Koblenz boy, symbolizes the citizens’ love of life. Located outside Town Hall, the fellow spits water onto the street below every three minutes. Guides tell us that he represents the local people who, dominated by conquerers, refused to bow to their authority. This has been captured, in the European tradition, in this street-lid, over the cities’ undewrground services.
This is one of a series of T-Shirts celebrating street-lids of Europe.
Keith.
