Arguably Australia’s most photographed natural icon. I try to resist taking too many photographs of this beautiful rock, but as I drive past it every day of my life, sometimes the temptation is too strong to ignore.

Uluru, 2005.

When I was living in Europe, I would have dreams of red earth so vivid and vibrant that in the end, they lured me home. Whenever I doubt my decision, I should just come here and lose myself in this gorgeous photo………….thank you!

  • Thank-you bellmusker. You are most welcome to come here and lose yourself in this photo anytime you like! I understand exactly what you mean about the red earth. For nearly eight years now, it has ‘kept’ me enjoying desert life here at Uluru. I will find it very difficult to ever leave here.

This is so BEAUTIFUL Keiran………I have a watercolour of your Rock done by a NewZealander, Malcolm Warr which I’ve had for 24 years. Have never been to your country ……… but I know it’s absolutely fascinating in every way, shape and form………..outstanding gallery you have here …….. :-))

  • Thank-you PrairieRose for your wonderful comments. It is indeed a fascinating country. With some incredible landscapes. I have been lucky enough to live virtually in the shadow of Uluru for a number of years, and never stop marvelling at its beauty.

You see so many photos of Uluru but this one has some extra – with the red sand and Australian vegetation it really adds perspective and context – great shot! It’s much greener than I would have thought – awesome place.

  • Cheers Stephanie. Yes, most visitors are surprised with how much ‘greenery’ exists in the landscape around Uluru.
