Stormy Snapper Rocks

Stormy Snapper Rocks

It has been a week of wild weather here on the Gold Coast.
The coastline has been hammered by some spectacularly large seas, strong winds and heavy rain.

Image captured at Snapper Rocks, Rainbow Bay, 23rd May 2009. This image was captured five hours before the high tide tonight and already the waves were breaking over the walking path at times!

Looks wild Keiran. Great capture, love the colours here… Did you go flying today?! :)

  • Keiran Lusk replied

Thanks Vicki. I had a very enjoyable and full day exploring the coastline from Miami to Tweed Heads. It wasn’t as windy as expected, so no flying with the umbrella for me today :-)

The flying sounds interesting – Mary Poppins style?!! Wonderful sense of movement and power here Keiran.

  • Keiran Lusk replied

Ha ha, yeah… thankfully, umbrellas are not really my style at the beach… Thanks for the wonderful words Rosalie. Cheers :-)

Thank-you so very much Nurgen! It was awesome to feel the strength of these waves in person. I nearly got the camera wet a few times!

Your very welcome, glad you didn’t get your camera wet, more glad you didn’t end up in those waves lol..but yeh very literal and just makes you feel it’s power:)

  • Keiran Lusk replied

Hehe, thanks Miss N. Although I may have come close to getting the camera (and myself) soaked on a few occasions, there was no way I was getting close enough to be washed off the rocks. I am really quite a sensible bloke (mostly). Cheers :-)

It looks like many of us where out and about with our cameras during the storms on the Gold Coast!! Even though it was very destructive, at the same time, it was a good opportunity for photography. Great image Keiran!
