Casting Shadows...
The second in a set of rather experimental images dubbed The wine glass series.
29th March 2009.
This is a merging of two of my own images with some quick editing in Photoshop CS3. The first image is the skyline of Surfers Paradise (as captured from Greenmount). The second image is a wine glass filled with water and droplets of water sprayed on the outside of the glass (rotated 90 degrees CCW) captured at slow-shutter speed. The wine glass was sitting in front of my computer screen, which was projecting one of my own blue sky images on the fullscreen. The two images have been merged through layering, with Contrast/Brightness/Shadow adjustments, Colour Removal from the city skyline image, Spotlight effects, and Image Transformation (Warp) – all in Photoshop CS3. I hope that you like the end result.

Yes! Like the end image very much!! And really enjoyed reading about the process as well. :o)
Keiran Lusk replied
Ha, thanks Jen. I wasn’t sure whether to spoil the magic and explain how I made this image, but I figured it was an unlikely merging of images and possibly worth an explanation! So, I am glad that you like the image and enjoyed the read! Cheers :-)

Very good Keiran! Your creativity is amazing! And very clever, the symbolism of the sea being something we find comfort in, looking so like a cartoon sea at the same time!! Wonderful effects here! Fave!

Wow, this is really cool, Kieran. I really admire people who come up with such original ideas. Unfortunately I can only “borrow” other peoples techniques but I do try to make the results look totally different to theirs.:)
Keiran Lusk replied
Thank-you so much Ann. It doesn’t happen very often for me, so it is always exciting when an original idea pops into my mind! But I hardly reckon that your incredible photography skills and vision are at all borrowed. You have some wonderfully unique images :-)
