Organic Parts
It’s sort of funny to me the myriad ways life manifests itself. As whole organic entities, a rose bush is entirely different than a human being, although both are living beings. A part of that bush and a part of that person are no exceptions; those parts also conjure entirely different reactions upon viewing them. A single rose is a lovely thing, a symbol, a gift. A human ear is a grotesque and ugly object when seperated from it’s body….
Original work is 12”x24”, acrylic on masonite.

This is different! Different medium too? Great linear shapes…and of course I thought of Van Gogh :)
A thorn by itself may be ugly, and when the rest of the head is attached (but still separated from the body) it may be beautiful. Definitely interesting how people react to things when you deconstruct them!

Wow! Super cool! Love your interpretation of the painting. Causes you to ponder larger things when looking. Wow….too deep for me…better stop looking…...... lol

Awesome work man.

This is a wonderful painting… graphically it’s exquisite, and the underpinning concept is a subtle and challenging one. This work is certainly making me question the objects and their identities.

I don’t think it’s the separated ear that’s so disgusting, but maybe the thought that now there’s a man out there with only one ear…i find neither grotesque, actually
but I thought of ‘Blue Velvet’ the moment I saw this and smiled…

love all your collage combos going on
thanks

Thank you! This one’s all paint actually- no collage work. The paintings ‘Contumacy’ and ‘Divination’ which I’ve got posted on here are the only two with collage work, namely the text/news print in the compositions.
