While you are growing up, so many people will tell you to do what you love and it will provide. I followed that advice and pursued a career in music. Many years and lots of dollars to Mars Hill College later I realized that might not have been the best advice. I was never going to be a music instructor, I was never going to be a jazz trumpet player and my ultimate dream of being a rock guitarist was, well, just a dream.
I entered the workforce and found my niche in IT. Technology comes very easy to me.
While taking a few snapshots with my cheap digicam last year it dawned on me that music was not the only love I’d had in years past. I had always also loved Leslie Stanley… No, wait, I’d also loved photography!
At my request, I had gotten a Pentax K1000 manual film SLR for Christmas one year and LOVED it. I had taken as many exposures as my allowance allowed (which was not a lot.)
My love of photography was not lost after all, it was just in storage. It was a quick match with my love of nature and that makes up the basis of my current portfolio.
As I look to expand my horizons in photography I hope you have some patience with me. It’s not always going to be pretty, but it’s always going to be real!
