Dedicated to the memory of
Harry Martin Hamilton, (wee Hammy)
26th April 1917 – 18th October 2008.
*The Angels came and took you from us,
as you lay sleeping in your bed.
You looked so peaceful and without pain,
as you drew your final breath.
We held your hand, kissed you goodbye,
which left us all feeling sad,
but deep down in our hearts we knew,
that you were feeling glad.
It’s been 22 years since Mum passed away,
and you’ve been on your own.
But now you are together again,
in heaven, till the end of time.
Your quirky ways, and cheeky smile,
plus many other things,
are memories that we have of you,
that will last for eternity.
So now it’s time to say goodbye,
and thanks for all you have done.
You will, for always, be in our hearts.
We love you, ‘Wee Hammy’ Hamilton.*

I wrote this poem at 0400 this morning, 22 Oct ‘08.
Not only is it dedicated to ’Wee Hammy’, but also to his Granddaughter Karen, who has done so much for him these past few years, but also his son John, and his daughter Catherine.
He was a strong man, who survived the beaches at Dunkirk, and has lived with only one lung for the past 32 years, and had a triple by-pass in November ‘99, following a car crash in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.
’Wee Hammy’ passed away at 0435 on the 18/10/08, in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Margate, Kent.
Rest in Peace Wee Hammy.
We love you.
