The Perfect Morning Air

Running through the night
Dancing before the storm
Rolling clouds in ominous grays
The wind is rising
Lifting branches and flower heads alike
Birds sing a song of suspense
Waiting to see what the morning light reveals
As the mist begins to rise
I lift my head and walk forth
Seeing everything for the first time again
With each new ray of sunlight the colors come to life
From gray into green the grass is revealed
Covered in dew reflecting the new day
Morning tiptoes onward and more colors join in
The flowers awaken shaking the dew from their petals
Taking a deep breath of the most pure air
Only to be found in the first moments of a sunrise
And smile
And be glad to have life
