Nothing fancy here…. Just a thrill for me! Coming around a curve in the road and seeing a large, dark object in a tree on the side of the road always gets my adrenalin pumping!! Glad I had the camera and the long lens in the car while I did errands today!!

Wow, great you spotted this guy! . . and had your camera handy. Good clear shot too, what were you shooting at? Really nice one, Km!

  • It’s odd, Kat, a lot of the Eagles around here migrate south for the winter, so it’s rare to see them this time of year, but I have seen this one several times in the past two weeks. This is my closest view… yet! lol Weather was icky and ugly, so I don’t know what made me grab the camera, and then I almost didn’t take this road home, but changed my mind at the last minute. I believe it to be a juvenile but not sure if male or female…. sure is big though!!!
You popped in to my head as I stepped out of my Jeep and on to the icy side of the road…. so I set my f-stop to 8 !!! lol (do you remember mentioning that?) I bumped up the ISO (800) to make sure my shutter speed was fast enough to hold steady – I shoot in aperture priority most of the time – so 1/800 sec. so…. f 8, 1/800 sec., and ISO 800 (crazy!) and had the zoom all in at 300mm.

Thank you dear friend!!! …..I am still flying high! lol xxX

What a thrill to see these beautiful birds in their habitat ! I have had the opportunity to see them at the nature center but the biggest thrill was to see one in a dead tree on the way to my Mom’s house a couple weeks ago !! Kudos on the fabulous capture Kim !

  • It takes my breath away, Renee and keep saying “get the shot, get the shot” and pray I can focus and hold the 300mm steady enough for it to be sharp!!! lol I know you appreciate the feeling… Thank you so much!! xx

F\8 served you well! As you probably know, around f8 your lens will be added sharpest. It’s just good that the branches are so sharp are also not all bokeh’d out!

  • I just knew I had to get it sharp, Kat, and I remembered you said that was your ‘standard’, so I gave it a shot!! So, thank you for the part you played in this one!!! xxXX
