“The High Bridge” is a bridge that carries Minnesota State Highway 149 over the Mississippi River in St. Paul, Minnesota. The bridge is a two-lane street setup over the river. The original bridge, built in 1895, was damaged by a storm in 1904. The southernmost five spans were rebuilt. Due to deterioration over the years, the old bridge was demolished in 1985. A new bridge was built and opened in 1987 at a cost of $20 million. The ornamental ironwork on the new bridge was built using iron from the old bridge.
The High Bridge has a height of 160 feet, making it the highest bridge in St. Paul. (info from Wikipedia)

    ..hmmm… I like ths one too but the effect is totally different from the other one…this is somehow more artistic and the other is more photography….I think the other is more powerful in pulling in your viewer but it all depends upon what people look for in a photo…both are really excellent work, Kim…and both demostrate your love of what you do…and your skill….it’s all good!

  • Thank you so much Kat – I so appreciate your time and thoughtfulness!! I agree with you – I liked them both for completely different reasons… I have come to love textures to make photography look more like paintings. However, I also still think a powerful photograph is as artistic as painting – and many people don’t consider photography an art…
    Anyway thank you for recognizing my love of this art – straight and photoshopped!!!! : }
    Great Big Hugs to You!!!! You are a special person!!!

    Beautiful manipulation. The treatment gives it a greater sense of the history and that lovely vintage feel. I just love the extra freedom of expression that manipulation brings to an artists tool set. :) None of it takes away from the fact that it is a lovely capture of the bridge. The composition is perfect to show off the sculptural qualities of the bridge.

  • Belinda, thank you very much for such a thoughtful wonderful comment!! I agree with your perspective on the benefit of the manipulation tool… and I constantly remind myself “it has to start with a good photograph!”
    Thank you for your wonderful visit to my work!!!!
