St. Paul on the World Stage by

This week and weekend world class Downhill Ice Racers come to St. Paul Minnesota to participate in The Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championship. This sport makes it long-awaited US debut in the opening race of the 2012 edition. Saint Paul, Minnesota, is hosting the first round of competition on January 12-14 as the world’s best downhillers break the ice in North America.

What a fabulous night shot Kim!! Perfectly composed, excellent cropping and those bright colors enhanced by the beautiful light is simply magical…against the dark backgroud…exquisite photography my friend!! Have a great weekend…I hope Minnessota has warmer weather than Montreal!!!! Keep warm! Marie xx

  • Thank you so much my friend!! I was tickled with the result. I have shot the Cathedral before, but it is wonderfully lit up for this event which made for a perfect opportunity! I think it’s funny that you called it ‘magical’ because when I saw the raw files, I thought “it looks like the Castle at Disney World” ! lolol
Pretty cold here, finally, but not below zero F yet…. : / You keep warm too!!
    Hugs!! ~ Kim

fantastic capture Kim and you’re making me feel bad for moaning it’s too cold here to go out with my camera at -3c!…mind you it was -8 this morning and although I got dressed with good intentions of going out to capture the sunrise, the cold blast of air that hit me made me reach for the coffee and a warm blanket! LOL

  • Thanks so much Lissy! I completely understand about grabbing for the coffee instead of the camera! If I hadn’t been out already (coming home from work – I work 3-11pm), I wouldn’t have had the determination to go out for this! Although, it was well worth braving the temps to catch it!!
Nice to see you getting some RB time!!! xxX ~kim
