What a sensational photo, Kathy, and just look at the look on that face…that will keep any predators away….sure doesn’t look like a very cozy nest, does it? Along with migration, I find nest-building one of the really fascinating aspects of birds’ lives…think of the work that went into the construction of that nest…(reminds me of that other photo you took of the passing-of-the-stick in mid air)… Kathy, have any young egrets hatched already? I’m thinking of that photo you took of the little one looking up as a parent approached? ..or maybe it was a heron.. I have to go check.

    Excellent shot!

  • Thanks so very much Kat. Appreciated as always. Oh this was one smart parent choosing this spot for the nest. It was well hidden from above where the predators are. Being white if the nest is unattended, the babies stick out like a sore thumb and are easy prey. I to love watching the nests being constructed, especially the nests of great egret and herons as the team work involved is truly amazing. No babies yet, perhaps in another month. Yes, the one looking up a Momma is an egret. Thanks again my friend for all you kindness and support. :)
