Fabulous capture. I’d be so excited to get a shot like this!

  • Oh and I was Dot………very excited. I get to shoot the females and young males a lot who don’t that the ruby throat. Once the babies are out of the nest and not needing to be fed, the females do run the males off so this was a wonderful opportunity. Thank you so much my friend. :)

Spectacular shot of this Ruby-throated…and in your backyard….Great color and the blur of the wings demonstrates just how fast they move….I hardly ever see hummingbirds and, when I do, they’re off in a flash…so fast and so small…you can easily miss them.. you must be thrilled with this one, Kathy.

  • Thank you so much Kat. I really appreciate the wonderful comment. I just love having hummingbirds in my backyard and have dedicated a whole garden to them. Did lots of research on what plants to put in to attract them and the wonderful thing is that the next season they always return to the same feeding ground. I’ve found that in addition to the feeders, they love the plants I’ve planted for them. It was so happy to get a photo of this male as they are run off by the females once the chicks have left the nest. Thanks again. :)

wow, such perfect details and color! wow! wunders how i can make a garden in my spanish apt hahahaa excellent image!!

  • Thanks very much fototaker for the wonderful comment. If you have a window in your apartment, you can attract these beauties with feeders that can be put on your windows, but they are more attracted when they have plants too. Maybe a window box with some of their favorite plants? Thanks again so much. :)
