Photo taken in my backyard in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA. I am fairly certain that this is a Shinx Moth Caterpillar, but I’m not sure which type of Sphinx Moth. The plant that it’s on is called a Penta and I put them in my butterfly gardens as they are host plants for butterflies and moths.

Wow what a little beauty of Nature that is Kathy! Nicely captured too!
Thank you so much dear Tina. I think it’s kind of cute and was neat to be able to photograph. Hopefully I’ll find out exactly what kind of caterpillar it is. I always research all the critter photo’s I take. I have some really great books and can’t find this one in any of them. Nor have I been able to find anything on it by googling it. Thanks again for the kind comment my friend. Much appreciated. :)
Oh thank you so much Andrea for the kind comment. I think this critter is so adorable, and of coarse I love all life so very much and want to know whatever I can about what I photograph. All life is so very precious. :)
I can’t help with I.D. Kathy … it’s a beauty though ! Have you submitted to the I.D. Me Group
Oh thank you so much for the name of the group Trish. I joined and asked for help with identification. I appreciate the info and the comment so much. :)
Could become and Easter Tiger Swallow Tail – not 100% sure though
Thanks for your response about the ID Trixi. I thought at first glance that this was the Eastern Tiger Swallow Tail, however in all my research so far and google and going through all my books, the Eastern has the false eyes on the head but not along the sides of the body as this one has. Sure hope I find out and thank you very much for your feedback and help trying to identify this beauty. I really appreciate it. :)

Almost certainly a sphinx moth (we call them hawk moths in Oz) because of the spine on the tail.
Thanks very much Andrew for the great comment and for more direction in Identifying this big guy. Much appreciated. I will continue to research. :)
