Old Southern Plantation Oaks by Kathy Baccari

Small (23.2" x 15.7")

Old Southern Plantation Oaks by

Photo taken Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, USA. Color enhancements and textured layer added in photoshop. This particular section of the gardens is called Oak Alley, obviously because of it’s beautiful southern oaks. These trees are over 300 years old and magnificent to see.

wow! beautiful colors. you are so lucky to live there but me, I can go everywhere in forests and I won’t see any venomous snakes. lol

  • Thank you so much Manon…….oh yes it must be wonderful to take photos and not have to worry about venomous snakes LOL, but it sure keeps you on your toes. I do love our live oaks here with them being so old and draped with all that Spanish Moss. Thanks so much. :)

Stunning work! Gave Brookgreen Gardens a quick drive but did not have time to truly study and shoot. Usually visit the Myrtle Beach area 2 times a month and have found many opportunities for shooting. I love that area.

  • Thank you so much Michael. I really appreciate the great comment. Oh you must make some time when you are here to explore these beautiful gardens. It is one of my favorite places to be with such a rich history. I am so glad Anne and Archer Huntington were kind enough to donate this and Huntington Beach State Park to the State. It is a wealth of very special treasures. Thanks again so much. :)

Beautiful work Kathy. I love that stuff that hangs from yoiur trees.

  • Awe thanks mate….. That “stuff” is Spanish Moss which is so gorgeous and thankful doesn’t harm these old oak trees. The Spanish Moss is something you don’t want to touch though as it has these little tiny parasitic things called Chiggers that lay their eggs under your skin and cause horrible itching. I keep my distance….LOL. It is quite beautiful though, isn’t it. Thanks again my dear friend. :)

I love the warm, still peaceful feeling. It seems to be tilted slightly to the right.

  • Thank you so much Webster for you wonderful comment. I appreciate it so much. This spot is indeed a warm peaceful setting and those big oaks really add some wonderful shade in the heat of the summer. One of my very favorite places. Thanks again so much for your kindness. :)
